What you get.
A native desktop music player for Windows and Linux. Plays MP3, FLAC, M4A (AAC and ALAC), OGG, Opus, and WAV straight from disk. Gapless. No streaming, no re-encoding, no DRM. The library index lives in IndexedDB on your machine.
How it installs.
On Windows, run the installer. The EXE is signed; Windows SmartScreen may still warn on a fresh machine until the certificate builds reputation. Click More info → Run anyway and you’re in. Installs per-user, no admin rights. Prefer no install? Pick the portable zip from the Download menu and run WhoPlayedThat.exe from anywhere. On Linux, download the AppImage, chmod +x, and run it.
How it updates.
The app checks for updates on launch and downloads them in the background. You never have to revisit this page. It’s only here so the first install has a home.
macOS.
Still on the roadmap. The lift is mostly Apple code-signing, not a rewrite, but the cert process is a one-time bureaucratic project queued behind active feature work.
What’s inside.
Personnel as first-class citizens: click a sideman to see every track they appear on. Tag instruments and browse by bassist, drummer, or trumpeter. Smart playlists that refill themselves. Last.fm scrobbling. In-app tag editing including cover art. Send-to-phone over Syncthing. Artist bios pulled from MusicBrainz and Wikipedia.
